New Muses is comprised of a seasonal company of theatre artists and tenured artistic associates joining together to produce intelligent, thought-provoking, and engaging theatre for a contemporary audience.
Henry Behrens - Company Member (Richard II, Henry IV)
Henry is an actor, editor and creative person from Auburn. They first appeared as Tranio in TAMING OF THE SHREW as produced by Tol & Smol Productions at the Dukesbay Theater. Fascinated by the interwoven meanings in Shakespeare's text, he's excited to help portray this wild time in history. They thank their loved ones for their support and encouragement.
Bethany Bevier* - Box Office Manager/ Production Stage Manager
Bethany began working with New Muses during the 2011-12 Season. Her sound designs include THE SHAPE OF THINGS; DOCTOR FAUSTUS (BWW Nomination); MISS JULIE; INTO THE WOODS; ROMEO AND JULIET (BWW Nomination), PEER GYNT, A SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS (BWW Nomination), LYSISRATA, and FRANKENSTEIN as well as many installments of the one-night-only staged reading series. She has worked throughout the Puget Sound as a stage manager including New Muses’ INTO THE WOODS. Bethany is the host of the Backstage Knitting Podcast, available on Apple Podcasts and YouTube, and is now accepting new clients for Ashiatsu Massage at her office in historic downtown Puyallup. Jill Heinecke - Company Member (Richard II, Henry IV)
Jill Heinecke is excited for her first full production with New Muses! Selected favorite roles in the South Sound include THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE (Hallie Jackson) and SECOND SAMUEL (Jimmy Deeanne). Thanks to the cast and crew for a wonderful return to in-person performance! And as always, thanks to her family and Frank for their continued support and encouragement!
Juliet Hollifield - Company Member (Henry IV)
JULIET HOLLIFIELD (Falstaff) is a singer and actor from Dillon, Montana. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from CWU. You may have seen her in HEATHERS THE MUSICAL at Lakewood Playhouse, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE at Tacoma Arts Live, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC at Tacoma Little Theatre, or strolling through the South Sound area singing with The Dickens Carolers at Christmastime. She would like to thank Connor, Ellen, the Parents Hollifield, and all her friends for the constant support and enthusiasm.
Joseph Grant - Company Member (Richard II)
Joseph has acted in theatre for over 50 years in a variety of venues. Some favorite roles since 2000 include Willy Loman, DEATH OF A SALESMAN; Shelly Levene, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS; John Adams, 1776; Herr Schultz, CABARET; Henry, LION IN WINTER; Atticus, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD; Macduff, MACBETH. His last role was Tilney, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, at Tacoma Arts Live. He sends love to Corrie, favorite wife and favorite fan.
Alyssa Kay - Company Member (Richard II, Henry IV)
Alyssa is an actor and fight/intimacy choreographer originally from Seattle. Previous acting credits include Harlequin Productions, Book-It Rep, Seattle Opera, Taproot Theatre, Off-Road Shakespeare, and GreenStage. She has also appeared in various local films and webseries, including JourneyQuest, Dark Dungeons, and Penny Palabras. Alyssa is a recent transplant to Tacoma and is excited to connect with her new theater community!
Samantha Lobberegt - Company Member (The Last Five Years)
Samantha is incredibly excited and grateful to be sharing with you THE LAST FIVE YEARS. After what has seemed like forever this last year and a half she is so thankful to be back on stage bringing the arts back to the community. She has previously appeared in THE LITTLE MERMAID at ART, SEUSSICAL at TLT and GUYS AND DOLLS at ManeStage. She would like to thank all her amazing friends for their constant support and her fiancé Justin for always believing in her.
Isabel Nixon Klein - Company Member (Henry IV)
Isabel is an actor from Lewis County and has participated in many of the local shows there, such as THE TEMPEST and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at the Roxy Theater, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM with TOAD, COME BACK TO THE 5 & DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN at the Evergreen Playhouse, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU at Centralia College and was also recently a part of a radio play, an adapted version of ST. JOAN IN AMERICA, through Goldfinch Productions. She'd like to thank the folks at New Muses for the opportunity to play on a new stage.
Nate Lovitt - Company Member (Henry IV)
Nate is an actor from Tacoma, Washington. He has previously appeared in THE TWISTED TALES OF POE and RECENT TRAGIC EVENTS at Pacific Lutheran University, as well as in the upcoming short film Il Vecchio with Studio 73. He would like to thank his parents and his partner Anamaria for their support and encouragement.
Walden Marcus - Company Member (Richard II, Henry IV)
Walden is an actor and playwright new to the Tacoma area as of this summer. Recent roles include Spencer, HOW TO CLEAN YOUR ROOM (AND REMEMBER ALL YOUR TRAUMA) (WWU) and Endymion, PALLAS' ATHENA. Walden's one-act GIMME A SIGN was showcased at the KCACTF Region VII Festival in 2021. Thank you New Muses, friends, mentors, Dad, Leon, and A.R.M.
Niclas Olson* - Managing Artistic Director
An actor, playwright, director, and designer, Olson's work has been featured at theaters throughout the western United States and Canada. As the founder and managing artistic director of New Muses Theatre Company, he has helmed productions of classic works by Shakespeare (HAMLET, ROMEO & JULIET), Aristophanes (LYSISTRATA), Ibsen (GHOSTS, A DOLL'S HOUSE, PEER GYNT), Strindberg (MISS JULIE), Marlowe (DOCTOR FAUSTUS) and Wilde (THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST), along with contemporary works from Stephen Sondheim (INTO THE WOODS), Neil Labute (THE SHAPE OF THINGS, REASONS TO BE PRETTY) and Wallace Shawn (THE FEVER). His regional credits include the entirety of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA at Olympia Little Theatre and OF MICE AND MEN, MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE, THE LIBRARY, and EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL for Tacoma Little Theatre. His award-winning lighting and scenic designs are regularly featured by clients including Tacoma Little Theatre, Tacoma Arts Live, Dukesbay Productions, the Lakewood Playhouse, UW Tacoma, Civic Rep Theatre, and Toy Boat Theatre. As an actor he is recognized for the title roles in Aaron Sorkin's THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION (LPH, NW Premiere), DOCTOR FAUSTUS, ROMEO AND JULIET, PEER GYNT, FRANKENSTEIN, two runs as HAMLET (New Muses), and THE MUSICAL ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY (TMP) to recent performances as Tom in THE GLASS MENAGERIE and Seymour Krelbourn in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (LPH). His adaptations of classic plays are regularly commissioned and published by New Muses Theatre Company and his original works have been staged at Pacific Lutheran University. Alan C. Plaster - Company Member (Richard II)
Alan is an actor from Buckley. He has previously appeared as Gremio in TAMING OF THE SHREW with Tol and Smol, Riff Raff in ROCKY HORROR SHOW with Auburn Community Players, and as Harry in MAMMA MIA! with Auburn Community Players. He would like thank his parents Steve and Nadine, his wife Illene, and his children Tillie and Rory for their support.
Mason Quinn - Company Member (Richard II, Henry IV)
Mason has been active in the Tacoma theatre scene since 2012. Some of his favorite roles include Jimmy in THE RAINMAKER at The Lakewood Playhouse, George in OF MICE AND MEN at Tacoma Little Theatre, Liberty Valance in THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE at Tacoma Little Theatre, and The Magistrate in LYSISTRATA with New Muses. He'd like to thank his wife Ana for her constant love and support, and the cast and crew for a great show.
Craig Rock - Company Member (Richard II, Henry IV)
After taking a 27-year hiatus from acting, Craig returned to the theatre in 2019. Since then, he's played Charles Baskerville in THE HOUNDS OF BASKERVILLES, Kris Kringle in MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, Archbishop in SAINT JOAN and the Duke of York in RICHARD II. He's grateful to New Muses Theatre Company for the opportunities he's been given.
Amit Rosenberg - Company Member (Henry IV)
Amit is an actor who got his start in the first grade while playing Charlie in Cherry Crest Elementary's 1992 production of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. After taking a long hiatus from acting, he rediscovered his love for it at Freehold Theatre Lab/Studio in Seattle in 2018. In 2020 he starred as Niles Harris in Freehold Theatre's production of Angels Fall. Henry IV will be Amit's first non-school affiliated play, and first time working with, or understanding, Shakespeare. He would like to thank his friends for their support!
