Accepting Submissions
Shakespeare's HENRY V
New Muses Theatre Company is pleased to announce a non-union casting call for roles in our upcoming production of William Shakespeare's HENRY V. This production will play in front of a live audience for 9 performances from June 17 - July 2, 2023 at the Dukesbay Theater in Tacoma. All rehearsals will be in Tacoma.
We are requesting that all actors interested in this project please submit a 1-2 minute classical monologue via video in lieu of in-person auditions. In order to see as many actors as possible we are extending our deadline and will be accepting submissions on a rolling basis. If interested please follow the instructions below to indicate your interest and we will be in touch about a callback appointment.
To audition:
1. Film a 1-2 minute monologue and upload to an online video service. (Unlisted YouTube videos are preferred.)
2. Email a headshot and resume to casting@newmuses.com

Actors of all ethnicities and gender identities are encouraged to audition for roles in New Muses Theatre Company productions. Information given on age, gender, etc. is specific to the character as originally written; actors need not personally match the character in age, gender-identity, etc. to submit or be considered. All roles are open to actors of any ethnicity.
Actors must be over the age of 18 by the first rehearsal to be considered for this production.
The Dukesbay Theater is on the third floor of the Merlino Art Center and requires climbing three flights of stairs for access. There is no elevator.

The War of the Roses saga continues in William Shakespeare's HENRY V. One year after the events of HENRY IV, a stunning challenge forces the newly crowned Henry back onto the battlefield. As the young monarch leads a reluctant army deep into the French countryside, the horrors of war and burdens of leadership threaten to destroy his reign. Political intrigue, ferocious battles, and heart-wrenching humanity come together in Shakespeare's stunning portrait of England's warrior king.

EXETER (Any Gender, 40+)
PISTOL (Any Gender, 40+)
FLUELLEN (Any Gender, 25+) also plays Cambridge
MONTJOY (Any Gender, 20+) also plays Grey
BARDOLPH (Any Gender, 20+) also plays Williams and Bourbon
BOY (F, 18-mid 20s) also plays Katherine
QUICKLY (F, 35+) also plays Canterbury, Alice, Governor and Bates
CHARLES VI (M, 35+) also plays Scroop and Gower
NYM (M, 20+) also plays Gloucester and the Dauphin
The role of Henry has been cast, all other roles are open. Doubling is subject to change.
Actors of all gender identities are encouraged to submit for all roles that interest them. Characters will retain their gender and pronouns as originally written. Actors of the global majority are especially encouraged to audition, all roles are open to actors of any ethnicity.
Actors must be over the age of 18 by the first rehearsal to be considered for this production.

Dedicated to producing intelligent, thought-provoking and engaging theatre for a contemporary audience, New Muses balances their trademark re-interpretations of classic works with contemporary plays and challenging stories featured in the One-Night-Only staged reading series. New Muses is excited to continue residence in Tacoma's Dukesbay Theater for the entirety of the 2022-23 season.

There are no projects accepting submissions at the moment. Please subscribe to our casting email list to be informed of our next round of auditions. We also post auditions via social media and the Theatre Puget Sound audition listing board for most productions.

Some roles, up to and including the full cast of a production, may be cast from the company in advance of open auditions. All roles which have been cast prior to open auditions are noted in the audition announcement. Actors may also be drawn from the company to fill roles after open auditions as needed.
