THE COMPANY (2020-21)
New Muses is comprised of a seasonal company of theatre artists and tenured artistic associates joining together to produce intelligent, thought-provoking, and engaging theatre for a contemporary audience.
Bethany Bevier* - Box Office Manager/ Production Stage Manager
Bethany began working with New Muses during the 2011-12 Season. Her sound designs include THE SHAPE OF THINGS; DOCTOR FAUSTUS (BWW Nomination); MISS JULIE; INTO THE WOODS; ROMEO AND JULIET (BWW Nomination), PEER GYNT, A SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS (BWW Nomination), LYSISRATA, and FRANKENSTEIN as well as many installments of the one-night-only staged reading series. She has worked throughout the Puget Sound as a stage manager including New Muses’ INTO THE WOODS. Bethany is the host of the Backstage Knitting Podcast, available on Apple Podcasts and YouTube, and is now accepting new clients for Ashiatsu Massage at her office in historic downtown Puyallup. David Breyman - Company Member (Saint Joan)
David is excited to make his return to live theatre with SAINT JOAN! Born and raised in Seattle, and a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, he has appeared in SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE at Tacoma Arts Live, ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL at Seattle Shakespeare Company, and ROMEO & JULIET at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Much love to his wonderful family and super nerdy friends.
Eric Cuestas-Thompson - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Eric is thrilled to be making another appearance with New Muses Theatre Company; favorite roles include Jacob Engstrand in GHOSTS, Howard Wagner in DEATH OF A SALESMAN, Murray in THE ODD COUPLE, Harpagon in THE MISER, and Mortimer in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, and both Greta and Uncle Freddie in BENT. He thanks husband Michael for his unconditional love and support.
Cassie Jo Fastabend - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Cassie has been performing since childhood in dance, music composition, and acting. She holds a Dual BA from the University of Puget Sound in Theater and English, and has also been a youth arts teacher in the South Sound for years. Recent performances include MACBETH and LEAR(S) at the Slate Theater in Seattle, HAMLET and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at UPS, A FEW GOOD MEN, and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at Lakewood Playhouse, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, STOPKISS, and GYPSY at Tacoma Little Theatre, THE PAJAMA GAME and ROBINHOOD: A HOLIDAY PANTO at Centerstage, and LYSISTRATA with New Muses. She is happy to be back!
Joseph Grant - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Joseph has acted in theatre for over 50 years in a variety of venues. Some favorite roles since 2000 include Willy Loman, DEATH OF A SALESMAN; Shelly Levene, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS; John Adams, 1776; Herr Schultz, CABARET; Henry, LION IN WINTER; Atticus, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD; Macduff, MACBETH. His last role was Tilney, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, at Tacoma Arts Live. He sends love to Corrie, favorite wife and favorite fan.
Park Lytle - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Park is an actor from Kirkland, WA. He is a recent graduate from Fairfield University where he performed such roles as Christopher Boone in THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHTTIME and Tiresias in ANTIGONE. Most recently he performed in the New Works Festival at the Centerstage Theatre. He would like to thank his friends and family for supporting him and his theatre work post-graduation.
Niclas Olson* - Managing Artistic Director
An actor, playwright, director, and designer, Olson's work has been featured at theaters throughout the western United States and Canada. As the founder and managing artistic director of New Muses Theatre Company, he has helmed productions of classic works by Shakespeare (HAMLET, ROMEO & JULIET), Aristophanes (LYSISTRATA), Ibsen (GHOSTS, A DOLL'S HOUSE, PEER GYNT), Strindberg (MISS JULIE), Marlowe (DOCTOR FAUSTUS) and Wilde (THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST), along with contemporary works from Stephen Sondheim (INTO THE WOODS), Neil Labute (THE SHAPE OF THINGS, REASONS TO BE PRETTY) and Wallace Shawn (THE FEVER). His regional credits include the entirety of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA at Olympia Little Theatre and OF MICE AND MEN, MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE, THE LIBRARY, and EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL for Tacoma Little Theatre. His award-winning lighting and scenic designs are regularly featured by clients including Tacoma Little Theatre, Tacoma Arts Live, Dukesbay Productions, the Lakewood Playhouse, UW Tacoma, Civic Rep Theatre, and Toy Boat Theatre. As an actor he is recognized for the title roles in Aaron Sorkin's THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION (LPH, NW Premiere), DOCTOR FAUSTUS, ROMEO AND JULIET, PEER GYNT, FRANKENSTEIN, two runs as HAMLET (New Muses), and THE MUSICAL ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY (TMP) to recent performances as Tom in THE GLASS MENAGERIE and Seymour Krelbourn in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (LPH). His adaptations of classic plays are regularly commissioned and published by New Muses Theatre Company and his original works have been staged at Pacific Lutheran University. Alan C. Plaster - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Alan is an actor from Buckley. He has previously appeared as Gremio in TAMING OF THE SHREW with Tol and Smol, Riff Raff in ROCKY HORROR SHOW with Auburn Community Players, and as Harry in MAMMA MIA! with Auburn Community Players. He would like thank his parents Steve and Nadine, his wife Illene, and his children Tillie and Rory for their support.
Craig Rock - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Craig jumped back into the world of acting in 2019 after a 27 year hiatus. He was cast as Sir Henry Baskerville in THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES. That quickly led him to the role of Kris Kringle in the Musical version of MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET. Craig is elated to be playing the role of Archbishop in ST. JOAN. He appreciates New Muses Theatre Company for giving him this opportunity.
Darius Sakui - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Darius is an actor from who started pursuing the craft when his family moved to Eugene, Oregon. He has appeared in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at the Very Little Theatre in Eugene, THE ORESTIA at Lane Community College, and STUPID F@#$*%® BIRD at Cornish College of the Arts, where he received his BFA in Acting this past May. He wants to thank everyone who has helped shape him into the person he is.
Ben Stahl - Company Member (Saint Joan)
Ben is excited to be returning to the stage after more than two years. He was last seen in LAURA at Tacoma Little Theatre. His credits with New Muses include Doctor Rank in A DOLL'S HOUSE and the Creature in FRANKENSTEIN. Ben hopes that we will be seeing more theatre around the South Sound as venues continue to open with priorities towards safety for the audience and artists. He is grateful you are here and hopes you enjoy the show.
